Avant or not Avant?

...That is the question. So if you were decided on buying a new audi car - an A6 to be precise - would you go for an avant (estate version of the car) or go for a standard saloon A6.

Looking at the audi a4 avant makes me want an avant, but the a6 doesn't have quite as much flair in my opinion. I mean it ticks all the boxes, looks hot and goes like a nuclear missle but does it really cut it against the E class equivelant? I am really unsure whether to go and find an audi a4 avant for sale in an auction and buy that - because even though I wan't an a6 the audi a4 avant is just so sweet - with full leather interior, alloys, tri-zone climate control etc of course!!! I am pretty indecisive though - oooo its tempting!

V12 Vanquish...ouch

When it comes to aston martins I am a pretty done deal - I really don't think anyone who has handed over the cash to buy an aston martin has ever regretted it, not like those honda hangovers. Today I got to drive a V12 Vanquish - and ohhhh what a car - this thing goes 0-100 in less time than it takes a bus to rust, with a sound that shows what the other 4 cylinders over the v8 vantage are for. This is a mans car, a proper car, perhaps the car? is a used v12 vanquish for sale in surrey really THE car- the one I want forever more? I really really think it is!!! long live the vanquish miles.

Fourtrak or Moretrak?

Starting out as a competition between different traction vehicles I now am immersed in a big debate - which would better pull a trailer from a muddy field - a naturally habitant, lightweight (in comparison) secondhand daihatsu fourtrak or a more modern but a lot more heavy duty mercedes sprinter van. Now you would think that the 4x4 would wipe the floor with a big old german white van but it didn't when we tested it - I was gobsmacked - how is a huge van with poor tyres (grip depth wise compared to the 4x4) beating a 4x4 in the towing challenge - surely thats not really a possibility. Perhaps the germans have done it with clever traction control...more testing I think.

I know I remain off topic kinda but one day soon I will get back to the awesome car a day rule, I promise! anyway I thought I would just chime in about the state of cars in the uk. Thats 3 used daewoo cars I have seen crashed in a week - thats got to have been some sort of nightmare statistic from the news or something. I don't know whether the older used daewoo saloons are just brought by crazy drivers or whether its a fault of the car. I mean the car is very average and very boring so I would hazard a guess as the drivers are too blame myself...crazy coincidence maybe.

Most People wouldn't bother comparing ferrari videos with the likes of Used Daewoo's, I mean its clear who's the winner yer? - No competition the italian supercar will always win?

Well no actually. You see theres another battle going on in the car world, a battle which pits Ferrari F430s for sale against cheap, very cheap daewoo's and imported metal. And theres more to it than just used cars, Its also apparent that people literally love the cheapness. I mean a car that costs less new than a 40 year old broken ferrari is surely not cool right?. but some people think it is - this is probably the same sort of people that walk passed a sign saying used ferrari's only to sigh and say "whats wrong with the world". Its all about the ferrari's trust me - no one really wants a cheaper than 10k car - at all.

Auto Repair - Mechanics...Sigh

The world of auto repair never really struck a bone with me, had too many garage bills that seem extortionate and well over priced. But In the end I put my experiences with Auto Repair down to a learning curve. I seriously reckon if you get 1 decent garage out of all the Auto Repair Shops that you effectively have your motoring sorted for life.

This one I found (see previous linkage) based in texas, actually has a webcam rigged up so you can see every bit of auto repair work being done to your motor, from the mechanic changing the wheel to a whole engine rebuild - pretty cool use of technology and investment in good morals. Although it does make you think they must be pretty damn trustworthy!

Another thing they do which I havent seen done elsewhere is deal with Auto Repair Coupons, that is give out coupons that can be redeemed against auto repairs with other purchases, charity donations, as well as the traditional use of discount coupons etc.

All in All a pretty impressive leap forward, while I maintain that finding a good mechanic may take you a few years, but when you have one - stick with them!

Renault R28 - Yellow madness?

When you think of formula one, renault is a name that comes in to your head almost as much as ferrari and mclaren. This car further alliterates this slight french grip on f1. Their cars may be shockingly standard in real life, but this is one french car you won't find in a used car for sale lot ever. With carbon ceramic breaks that if fitted to a horse and cart would be the last straw that broke the shire horses back and a front nose that is worthy only of a satan grade smile. If you painted it black this thing would be a land going fighter jet.

When talking about the standardly gross ford focus rs I would not be someone who would praise it. I think its crass, loud and frankly grim. But I know it appeals to a certain car driving market and as such will always be brought and driven. Its a personal choice and I think the germans do it better than anyone. Anyway take a look at this - not quite your average ford focus eh? This is the one exception to the rule of "i do not want to get in that ford focus" - just look at it.

Vannage - Hummer HX?

Do you think this hummer looks good? Its not exactly a van is it! I was thinking of buying a van for my nephew as he requires something fairly hefty to lump around supplies in Scotland. Obviously a used landrover discovery would be the best idea but I haven't found a decent one for a good price and looking at Van Insurance you can get some pretty neat Cheap van insurance on a vauxhall. But would a vauxhall cut it in the conditions up to the north of this island? I doubt it some how. So then, for a joke (stick with me) I had a look at the Hummer concept.

In looks at least it does appear somewhat 4x4 like. But as we all know the last hummer they released was better at crashing than it was scaling any sort of slope, mound - hell even some curbs sucked in a hummer. So what do we think the insurance would be on one of these monsters? Probably a lot, and not because UK Van insurance is expensive, but because americans are not the coolest cats in the uk, especially with the recession a'coming. So I wonder - do we need another hummer? why don't we stick to vans and Landrover DiscoveryS!!

This blog - designed ultimately for road cars today will look at something else, something more batlink. The batmobile is a mentalists dream, truely mental. Designed to be like a bat (which flys not drives) the car is essentially random. Randomly needed, randomly styled and randomly powered. Like a lot of film cars the batmobile has been powered by jet propulsion, petrol and even winchs. Crazy. You can't knock it for originality though - how many ford batmobiles you see parked on your street?

Hyundai Genisis Concept

It has been being said for a while now that hyundai are getting thier act together, but where I like to check on this most is with thier concepts (as much as this one looks like a finished car) This is a prime example, with good looks a grill that looks like an aliens rib cage and the rest of the car that looks generically german saloon like this car will probably make it. The engine choices further improve the situation with 3 good, well powered not limp wristed green finger options. I kinda hope they make it, so we can compare it to the a4, 3 series etc :D Hell in ten years you might find a decent used hyundai genisis ;)

Red and styled like a venomous snake, this ferrari looks like it will whip anyones ass on and off any track ever, if it were to have a fight with a hungover atom bomb it would come off better, and faster at that. In recent years I haven't been so fond of mercedes. I almost think they have been being a bit hmm conservative with their choices. It all seems to make perfect sense, but then I suppose that's what they are good at, but if so why aren't they ruling the world yet? they must have a secret backroom somewhere where things tip the needle a bit from perfect to insane. AMG is supposed to be that backroom, and usually produces cars that fit this bill. Although I am not sure about this one - seems to be a bit along the lines of pumped up lunacy...

If you are after commercial Van Insurance then what do you do? At awesome auto’s we don’t often tackle everyday vehicles, we are more of the v12 refined Italian super-muscle type of site, but here we go – don’t say we never help you. Today we would like to let you know how we managed to get Cheap van insurance, namely we shopped around. Yes exactly the same as you would for your car insurance, you just stick in your van reg, number of speeding tickets and what you’re going to use the vehicle for (for example being an accountant way beats being a rally driver in terms of insurability.) and let the bots do all the work running back wards and forward seeing which UK Van insurance company will provide you with the least painful wallet the next day. Its a pretty quick and easy process – but you never think that cars and vans are similar. I mean yeah its unlikely you are going to get good ferarri insurance from the same place you are going to find excellent insurance for your little commercial van, but its certainly worth trying a few different ‘shop around services’ – we saved over £400 on last years budget for our work run-around.

I wouldn't like to be called a pessimist, but in the same vane I wouldn't like to be a fool. This new concept seems....iffy to me, but on the other hand completely viable. I mean if we can make 40 metre wide JCB's and cars that do 270mph then a car that dives underwater should be completely do-able. But really, with a name like 'rinspeed' that sounds like a mix of the two words 'rinse and peedo' is not a good start. Not to say amazing things haven't come out of mens sheds before - but this car seems to just lack it for me, electrics - underwater and on road makes me think the last place I would want to be in a heavy vehicle was 10 metres down strapped to a battery in a convertible car.

Corvette C6 Z06 E85 Concept - Will the Americans ever get it right?

If your an avid reader of this blog you will know I don't much tend to like American exports. But the lure of a strait 500bhp corvette is undeniable. The overall design is typical corvette and although it seems to tick every box that a fast car should it seems to still look a bit like a combination of Keira nightly, Angelina Jolie and a cat. It seems to me like a car half born from a modern nice sports car but with legs made in the 1980s. I do not think its styling is anything to be proud of compared to for example the konensiggggggggggg, veyron - in fact any big value car - hell even the R8 is beautiful in comparison. Police lights are this photo's saving grace - they do make any car look cooler - especially low impact ones...still a corvette though :/

What do you think of when I say Mercedes, or Mercedes Benz? Not this. This car is obnoxious. Loud, fast and almost the exact opposite of what I associate Mercedes Benz's to be. With looks that are half beautiful and half sledgehammer ugly and an engine the size of a small village pub this mercedes is mental. You might think this is a countryside car, but recently the top gear lads showed it off in a competition against the RS4 and the new M3. They proved unanimously that its obnoxious and not as good a drive as the M3, but what an attempt ;)

Whatever you may say about the Porsche GT3 RS it shifts, both off the porsche lines but also down the road. Theres a reason its got a roll cage, breaks bigger than you whole dining table and a back spoiler. A whopper of a car and fun whether your on a track, road or trying to get out with some sort of dignity!

The title yes does sound a bit anti-america. But I am not anti america - they did probably help in developing the internet age and they are in essence still young in terms of history - but this car actually looks good? I was driving behind a corvette in the UK last week but it was a much older model so I payed it little attention. This one however looks pretty damn good. I don't like the central buldge which looks new style celica like (bad for a higher end car) but the lights look supra like which is ok. Still cant work out what that weird central bit on the bonnet is though????

Now if you read this often you will know I don't really love american cars, I am more of a german muscle man or at least something slightly effective. Typically american cars run 12 ltrs and produce the same bhp that a german 2 ltr car would - ok I exagerated but you get me. But this yellow car does look good - somewhat like a typical sports car I would say but I like the spoiler and rear end. Not something your likely to see in a used cars section in the uk though!

With a paintjob and mesh that you would only expect in the badguys laboratory in a James Bond Film and a window which has a viewable space of 4 square cms but a length of a metre, this thing looks more evil than a perverted santa. Like the predator out of alien vs predator or Darth vader evil. And releasing only 1 photograph of it - like this..that just proves this car is going to be evil. But what will this rotary engined evil death car do on the track...that is what we will see..

When I first saw this BMW concept 4x4 I thought, oh god another bmw/german manufacturer bringing out a model for everyone on my street, but on checking the stats for this german metal out it turns out to have quite a nice torque figure that would make boat pulling or other random towage a breeze. Pretty good for a lot of reasons, and not ugly either!!! I wonder how long it will take before you can buy one of these at a used bmw for sale lots?

If your a sensible type of guy who likes his grey suit and has a spare 80k what supercar would you buy? Yes its german, yes its an audi - where do you sign? here sir... Supercar salesmen must have the easiest jobs. Literally the sort of people that buy them do not give a crap that they are getting insane value for money (80k supercar - sponsored by germany ;) ) A second hand car might cost you a bit less...Needless to say that audi are scaling the german 3 mountain with the purchase of lambo and now the needlessly perfect r8. Perhaps only a smaller brother to some cars like the ssc but a sensible super car? I dont like those sides though!!

I wasn't amazed. Maybe I was wrong to even start writing this..lol. Ok so its a 4 cylinder white vauxhall with silly wheels and a bad exhaust, it has a turbo which seems to do most of the work but is frankly nothing special...there I said it!

When I saw this pop up at me I basically then decided screw saving for a db9. Look at it - this thing is worth 100 christmas's, and if santa really was fly he would be delivering everything from one of these cars. Wheels big enough to sink a ferry if you were ever to go on one, and an engine with more throat than a giraffe. This thing will have you 0 - 60 in 3.8seconds, and you will look damn cool the whole time, as well as being embedded in the (very nice) seat. 10/10 aston :D

Top Gear, UK Tv 09/12/07 - this car vs a daihatsu, I wont even bother telling you which daihatsu, it doesnt matter. This thing is fast, 215mph fast. Loud - bright yellow, bmw v8 loud and quick off the mark at 2.something 0 - 60mph. One thing I will say though is if I had one I would get it in black - cant be doing with this yellow milarky.

To say rocket car would be somewhat accurate for this car, from looking at the figures you cant help but wonder why such an insane car would be built, when frankly with figures like that it should be in space. And you would be right. This baby features carbon fibre bodywork on a space frame - high tech sh** which makes it very very light. Combine this feather weight pocket rocket with 700 break horse power and your away...very very quickly. You might look a bit stupid pulling up to a conference in it though...

Featuring a B6 Engine and enough BHP to kill a tortoise or thousand. When it comes to new cars you cant really trump a Porsche GT3. These things are fast, hot and balanced. Now it has probably never been heard out of my mouth the words "that ford looks cool". Perhaps I am not a ford kinda guy, or maybe I just see how damn ugly they are. The focus was praised for its stability and good driving, but my god it was a minger. I mean at least the vectra looked like a generic saloon, the focus looked like a saloon that had come out mishapen and should have been squashed at birth. So has the time come that I can swallow my words and say "hey that ford doesn't look like a drunken mistake" well maybe - its up to you to decide. More than that the R is a mental mentalist car, a second generation serial killer who is better than the cops - leaner, wider, longer, faster and with more carbon fibre sheets strapped to the side, who wouldn't buy one given the capital?

Now as the title suggests the photo makes the Vector Avtech WX-8 look a little batty but it doesn't sound too bad - its credentials don't compare to yesterdays awesome auto, but it still looks alright...
But is alright enough? I mean if I was a millionaire (give me a few years) and I had a mill to blow on a "ultra-super-exotic vehicle" would I choose this? It may have some good people behind it but in the world of Veyrons, Ferraris and other earth moving sports cars does this 80% attainment pupil make it? We will have to wait and see!

Hennessey Venom GT Concept - Fast?

Now I am not one for american cars - but done by UK car designer Steve Everitt the Venom GT would in theory use the Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Viper v10 engine - but with a very light weight mid engine chassis. Now that sounds good, promising and like something you would buy. But chances are you would die in it - that's if it ever gets made.

Still its spec looks promising and as a fast car the Hennessey Venom GT Concept definately stacks up, although in real life I am unsure of the realisticalness of this Bugatti Veyron on a diet. The veyron looks heavy, and that's reassuring when your going 250mph, but this thing looks like a feather. Now feathers aren't really reassuring at 250mph.

I mean look at the photo - its stood next to one huge great lump of rock, very mercedes - but also very 'vulture corpse' I mean look at it. If I sat 1000 English designers down and said to each of them design me a fast car - not one would look anything like this. The only way I could get a drawing of similar brute ugliness out of them is if I had gathered them together and then said 'draw me a dead vulture.'
You can see from the specs though that the GT car is essentially this car....lol

Now I dare anyone to take a look at this merc slr and not want one. Fair enough as a street car it does look vulgar like some sort of bird corpse with nitro selotaped on but I always prefer the GT versions - they hunker them down to the road, making them lower, adding spoilers and race vinyl. This SLR looks so much better as a gt car :D
