Corvette C6 Z06 E85 Concept - Will the Americans ever get it right?

If your an avid reader of this blog you will know I don't much tend to like American exports. But the lure of a strait 500bhp corvette is undeniable. The overall design is typical corvette and although it seems to tick every box that a fast car should it seems to still look a bit like a combination of Keira nightly, Angelina Jolie and a cat. It seems to me like a car half born from a modern nice sports car but with legs made in the 1980s. I do not think its styling is anything to be proud of compared to for example the konensiggggggggggg, veyron - in fact any big value car - hell even the R8 is beautiful in comparison. Police lights are this photo's saving grace - they do make any car look cooler - especially low impact ones...still a corvette though :/

Aston Martin V12 Vantage RS - Christmas Carol with a V12

When I saw this pop up at me I basically then decided screw saving for a db9. Look at it - this thing is worth 100 christmas's, and if santa really was fly he would be delivering everything from one of these cars. Wheels big enough to sink a ferry if you were ever to go on one, and an engine with more throat than a giraffe. This thing will have you 0 - 60 in 3.8seconds, and you will look damn cool the whole time, as well as being embedded in the (very nice) seat. 10/10 aston :D

Aston Martin DBS V12

Torque that would put satans ride to shame and a grin that would consume 1000 cheshire cats, the aston martin dbs v12 is more than your average aston martin....or is it? Big wheels - Check, stunning sell your arm for a ride looks - Check, loud - check. Besides the tomfoolery this car is not to be laughed at, closer to a purebred racer than a standard db9 but still maintains a level of out of this world dominance. It looks better than any car you have ever seen, and sounds damn good too!

Lotus Exige Cup

Small, Light-weight, refined, light and fast. This lean mean beast of a machine could inflict more G's on you than a typical fighter jet. Designed to scare the shit out of you on the track and still drive home we think it should remain on the first, revving to 10k rpm it sounds more vicious than a 10thousand cats being de-tailed. Tight, fast and small car - good old lotus.

Koenigsegg CCXR

Truly mentalist - A pure-bred car that frankly should be in space. I love the middle windscreen wiper and wide screen. The lights look like a cat being propelled at 600mph's eyes. With more carbon fibre sheeting than America this car has insane figures attached. Not much more needs to be said - a great car whatever the price.

  • Engine: 90º V 8
  • Compression Ratio: 8.2:1
  • Power: 1018 bhp / 759 KW @ 7200 rpm

Jaguar XKR Coupe

It would in my opinion be very difficult for anyone to comment inappropriately at this point about the ass of this jag (its sweet). This car could not ever be described as ugly. If so it would class the person speaking as mentally incapable or blind. It may be old news to most but I came across the images and I just couldn't turn it down, for me these nice coupe jags are the equivalent to chocolate for a fat women. Sweet. The real competition therefore is not between German cars but between the Aston and the jag - which is more absolutely stunningly...

  • Engine: 90º V 8

Porsche Boxster RS 60

The only Porsche I have personally seen (face to face) that I adore was a 911 turbo ( I think it was) completely black with everything on top. Now I am not really a Porsche type of a guy, I like aston martins and maybe even ferarri's more. But you gotta hand it to them they have stuck at it. Most companies would get bored redesigning the same design 4 million times, but they keep doing it - and the cars aren't half bad either!!

  • Engine: 6 Cylinder
  • Compression Ratio: 11.0:1
  • PoweR: 303 bhp / 226 KW
  • BHP per Litre: 95 bhp / litre
  • Power to Weight Ratio: 0.23 bhp / kg

Pagani Zonda R

Totally Bonkers, Crazy, Mental - all phrases commonly associated with the Zonda R. Realistically it is all of the above, and more. Its theatrical in every sense and most definately the most noted hypercar of recent years. More than that the R is a mental mentalist car, a second generation serial killer who is better than the cops - leaner, wider, longer, faster and with more carbon fibre sheets strapped to the side, who wouldn't buy one given the capital?
  • Engine: AMG / Mercedes Benz 60º V 12
  • Naturally Aspirated
  • Power: 750 bhp / 560 KW @ 7500 rpm

Toyota Supra Mark IV

This car has kept me entertained for years, whenever I see one I am very gelous, the one car that unanimously ruled my youth day dreams. I could have afforded one this year but decided I didnt want to die and I couldnt find a nice example quick enough. Considered the poor mans porsche killer the supras strait six, especially the UK speck 6 speed twin turbo is a legend of a car and should not be considered slow. Tuneable to over 1000bhp they have a lot of scope!
  • Engine: Straight 6
  • Compression Ratio: 8.5:1
  • Power: 320 bhp / 239 KW @ 5800 rpm
  • Torque: 427 Nm / 315 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm

Maserati MC12 Corse - What a GT

Some GT cars have just got it, Maserati GT cars always make me think fast and loud, and this one is no exception, low to the ground, hell of a side profile. If only I had my own race track *goes into day dream*Vital Statistics
  • Engine: 65º V 12
  • Compression Ratio: 11.2:1
  • Naturally Aspirated
  • Power to weight Ratio: 0.56 bhp / kg

Batmobile - oh no wait I mean Vector Avtech WX-8

Now as the title suggests the photo makes the Vector Avtech WX-8 look a little batty but it doesn't sound too bad - its credentials don't compare to yesterdays awesome auto, but it still looks alright...
But is alright enough? I mean if I was a millionaire (give me a few years) and I had a mill to blow on a "ultra-super-exotic vehicle" would I choose this? It may have some good people behind it but in the world of Veyrons, Ferraris and other earth moving sports cars does this 80% attainment pupil make it? We will have to wait and see!

  • Engine: V8 - hmm
  • Aspiration: Super Charger
  • 0-60: 3.3 seconds
  • BHP: 750 bhp / 560 KW
  • BHP per Litre: 107 bhp / litre

Hennessey Venom GT Concept - Fast?

Now I am not one for american cars - but done by UK car designer Steve Everitt the Venom GT would in theory use the Venom 1000 Twin Turbo Viper v10 engine - but with a very light weight mid engine chassis. Now that sounds good, promising and like something you would buy. But chances are you would die in it - that's if it ever gets made.

Still its spec looks promising and as a fast car the Hennessey Venom GT Concept definately stacks up, although in real life I am unsure of the realisticalness of this Bugatti Veyron on a diet. The veyron looks heavy, and that's reassuring when your going 250mph, but this thing looks like a feather. Now feathers aren't really reassuring at 250mph.

Engine: Venom 90º V 10
Aspiration: Twin Turbo
Break Horse Power: 1000 bhp / 746 KW
BHP per Litre: 117 bhp / litre
Power to Weight Ratio: 0.82 bhp / kg

Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren

Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren - Standard Schmandard
After looking at the GT 722 version of this car last post I thought I would re-look at the original car. I mean look at the photo - its stood next to one huge great lump of rock, very mercedes - but also very 'vulture corpse' I mean look at it. If I sat 1000 English designers down and said to each of them design me a fast car - not one would look anything like this. The only way I could get a drawing of similar brute ugliness out of them is if I had gathered them together and then said 'draw me a dead vulture.'
You can see from the specs though that the GT car is essentially this car....lol
  • Engine: AMG 90º V 8
  • Compression Ratio: 8.8:1
  • Torque: 780 Nm / 575 ft lbs @ 3250 rpm
  • BHP per Litre: 115 bhp / litre
  • Power to weight ratio: 0.35 bhp / kg
  • Top Speed: 334 km/h / 208 mph....or not

Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren '722' GT - to GT or not GT

Now I dare anyone to take a look at this merc slr and not want one. Fair enough as a street car it does look vulgar like some sort of bird corpse with nitro selotaped on but I always prefer the GT versions - they hunker them down to the road, making them lower, adding spoilers and race vinyl. This SLR looks so much better as a gt car :D
  • Engine: AMG 90º V 8
  • Compression Ratio: 8.8:1
  • Power: 680 bhp / 507 KW @ 6500 rpm (thought this was more because it was a 722 but?)
  • Torque: 830 Nm / 612 ft lbs @ 3250 rpm :0
  • BHP per litre: 125 bhp / litre
  • Power to weight ratio: 0.49 bhp / kg
  • Top Speed 196mph!!

Cooper T86 Maserati - Low down and Awesome

Cooper T86 Maserati - Low down and Awesome

Its not often you see a car like this, it appears like an old formula one car, but its got a few quirks. The low front defuser on this car adds a professional look and the crazy exhausts make it look like a batmobile. And oldie but a goodie this car - I like it!!!

  • Engine: Maserati Tipo 10 60º V 12
  • Power: 390 bhp / 291 KW @ 10000 rpm
  • Bhp per litre: 131 bhp / liter
  • Power to Weight Ratio: 0.7 bhp / kg

Dodge Viper SRT 10 ACR

Dodge Viper SRT 10 ACR - Viper Baby!!!

When I first saw a viper I had the opinion that all american cars were useless - large under refined engines pushing out 1/10th the efficiency of the european equivalent. But perhaps cars and times have changed? Still don't know if many UK buyers will choose a viper over a ferrari or Merc SLR!
  • Engine: 90º V 10
  • Compression Ratio: 10.2:1
  • Power: 600 bhp / 448 KW @ 6100 rpm
  • Torque: 760 Nm / 561 ft lbs @ 5000 rpm
  • BHP/litre: 71 bhp / liter
  • Power to Weight Ratio: 0.39 bhp / kg
With statistics like that, and looks like this: it does make you have a little 'hmmm maybe' though
